Mike is a Vice President of the Multicultural Association of Professional Photographers (MAPP), a national community of photographers, creatives and artists supporting each other in the development of their craft through education, inspiration, business training and community support while fostering diversity, social interaction, motivation and public service that serves the entire development of the person and is a national affiliate of Professional Photographers of America (PPA).
Originally Trained as Clinical Lab Scientist, Mike South is a Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) and is a Photography Technology Workflow Evangelist. Mike mentors others seeking to earn their Professional Photography Certification, is the Photography Technology Lead for TEDx Detroit and The ROCK THAT Photography Conference & Tradeshow. As a self acclaimed 'Techie', Mike is one the best in the industry at creating and managing digital workflows for events, studios, and individual photographers.
Mike’s exposure to scientific methods from his 30+ years of Clinical Lab background has created a natural progression to the technical aspects of Photography. This has inspired him to create mechanisms/workflows that use current technology to limit the risk of data loss and promote repeatable success from image creation through archiving.
Mike has a strong fraternal/religious desire to help creatives and a definite progression for diversity/opportunity for all photographers which continues to inspire him to serve the community.
